SEOUL, South Korea ? North and South Korean legislators will meet next week in the U.S. state of Georgia with American legislative aides and scholars for a three-day discussion meant to help resolve the North Korean nuclear standoff.
The informal academic forum hosted by the University of Georgia begins Monday.
It comes as diplomats struggle to restart long-stalled international negotiations meant to persuade the North to abandon its nuclear weapons program.
Organizers say the goal is to come up with policy recommendations and ideas on solving the standoff.
No senior U.S. officials are expected to meet with the North Koreans during their U.S. visit. But the talks will allow legislators from the rival Koreas to meet privately and share ideas and possible solutions.
