What Are The Benefits and drawbacks of Daytrading? - liuyuxin???

What Are The Benefits and drawbacks of Daytrading?

It's also referred to as intraday investing by some. It may be shortly referred to Michael Vick Jersey as buying-selling, selling-buying routine. You can therefore generate an income for yourself all in a single day. Even though the stock exchange is moving up or down, you aren't worried from the company's history or other fundamental strengths and weaknesses associated with a company. You are only involved with the rising and down of the stock. Each day trader is much more worried about the present sales and monitoring them meticulously for any kind of sudden alteration in value during the time of the day. All you have to determine is how the forecast is certainly going through and whether or not the stock value will improve or decline during the time of your day. These manner of trading is opposite of what former great stock exchange guru continues to be advocating through the years. Traditional investing will not anymore apply. When you consider day trading, Eagles Jerseys the rules that may have aided you choose excellent stocks formerly is now challenged with diverse rules. This can be a completely different playing field and daytrading is a different animal to rear. In regular distribution centered trading, shares are dependent on technical evaluation, basic principles or insider tips. Noteshelf (for iPad)

If you're going to use an iPad for work or school, you need a note-taking app (or two) that meet your needs and that you enjoy using. If you find an app that offers all the bells and whistles you think you need, but you dread launching the darn thing, you won't use it. The iPad app Noteshelf ($5.99) gets more than halfway there on both accounts, but doesn't quite follow through and deliver everything an avid note taker might need, nor deliver it in a package that you'd necessarily want to look at day in and day out.

Signature Features
Noteshelf offers three signature features. First, it organizes notes into visual notebooks, which sit on a shelf that looks stunningly similar to Apple's iBooks app. If you like the idea of seeing your notes in a book, which you can title and design, this feature may help you keep track of your notes. It's really a more of a design trick than anything else, seeing as most note-taking apps give you some kind of mechanism for sorting or organizing notes?it's just that they're not always visual.

Second, Noteshelf supports not only handwriting and sketching, but also typed text, which not all note-taking apps do.

Third, this note-taking app has a well designed zoom tool, which serious note-takers know is a necessity for handwritten and sketched notes on the iPad. Touch-screen writing tends to get sloppy without it.

While these three signature features do create a decent foundation for Noteshelf, none of them are unique. For example, Penultimate uses the same visual notebook method of organization as Noteshelf, but costs one-sixth of the price. Penultimate, however, was specifically designed to handle handwriting and sketching and does not even include a keyboard in the app. Our favorite iPad note-taking app overall has been Note Taker HD? (4.5 stars and an Editors' Choice), and it allows for both typed text and sketching or handwritten text. It also has a zoom mode, and one that's just as good if not better than Noteshelf's. Note Taker HD comes with a few advantages over Noteshelf, too, which I'll explain in a moment.

Noteshelf's Shortcomings
With its signature features, Noteshelf seems like a capable enough note-taking application, but when I got down to actually using it, I found it to be missing a few critical components.

Like any well-rounded note-taking app, Noteshelf lets you import images, which you can paste into a note and mark up. Unfortunately, once you affix an image to a note, you can't select it to move it or crop it. The app doesn't have a pan tool at all (in the slideshow images, you may notice a hand icon, which is in fact a wrist protection feature and not the panning button it appears to be).

Without a pan tool or selection tool of some kind, it's next to impossible to move anything around the note page. Say you import an image, then mark it up with pen notes and highlighter marks. Now perhaps you'll add a text box to type a label for the image or additional notes about it. The note may start to get cluttered, and if you could only just shift some of the page elements a few inches this way or that, you could probably fit everything you want on the page. But in Noteshelf, you can't easily drag page elements to a new place.

I hinted earlier that Note Taker HD has a few advantages over Noteshelf, and the ability to more easily manipulate (crop, move) PDFs and images that you import is one. Another is support for left-handed people.

While I don't want to have unrealistic expectations for an iPad app, I did notice that Noteshelf flattens your notes immediately?meaning if you import an image, mark it up, and then go to erase one of your marks, you'll also be erasing the image that's beneath the marks. I really wouldn't expect to see layering enabled on a simple mobile note-taking app, and Noteshelf actually does get around this problem by supporting multiple undos. So you can erase or you can hit undo.

Penultimate, you'll remember, does not have any typed text support whatsoever, but one thing it has that Noteshelf doesn't is a "clear page" button. In Noteshelf, if you want o clear a note page entirely, you'll have to select the eraser button and rub the entire screen (or hit undo as many times as it takes).

Which App to Choose?
If your notes will include a mix of typed text and handwritten or sketched notes, I'd recommend Note Taker HD over Noteshelf. It costs a dollar less and has more. If you don't need to include typed notes, I would suggest going with the 99-cent app Penultimate.

Cartoons in French weekly fuel Mohammad furor

PARIS (Reuters) - A French magazine ridiculed the Prophet Mohammad on Wednesday by portraying him naked in cartoons, threatening to fuel the anger of Muslims around the world who are already incensed by a California-made video depicting him as a lecherous fool.

The drawings in the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo risked exacerbating a crisis that has seen the storming of U.S. and other Western embassies, the killing of the U.S. ambassador to Libya and a deadly suicide bombing in Afghanistan.

Riot police were deployed to protect the paper's Paris offices after the issue hit news stands.

It featured several caricatures of the Prophet showing him naked in what the publishers said was an attempt to poke fun at the furor over the film. One, entitled "Mohammad: a star is born", depicted a bearded figure crouching over to display his buttocks and genitals.

The French government, which had urged the weekly not to print the cartoons, said it was shutting embassies and schools in 20 countries as a precaution on Friday, when protests sometimes break out after Muslim prayers.

Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Elaraby called the drawings outrageous but said those who were offended by them should "use peaceful means to express their firm rejection".

Tunisia's ruling Islamist party, Ennahda, condemned what it called an act of "aggression" against Mohammad but urged Muslims not to fall into a trap intended to "derail the Arab Spring and turn it into a conflict with the West".

In the northern Paris suburb of Sarcelles, one person was slightly hurt when two masked men threw a small explosive device through the window of a kosher supermarket. Police said it was too early to link the incident to the cartoons. One small local Muslim group filed a legal complaint against the weekly but there were no reports of reaction on the streets of France.

The posting on YouTube of a crude video, made in the United States and available on YouTube since July, that mocked Mohammad as a womanising buffoon has sparked protests in many countries, some of them deadly.

The U.S. envoy to Libya and three other Americans were killed in an attack in Benghazi, and U.S. and other foreign embassies were attacked in cities in Asia, Africa and the Middle East by furious Muslims.

Matthew Olsen, director of the U.S. government's National Counterterrorism Center, branded the Benghazi assault a "terrorist attack" and said officials were examining the possibility that individuals involved in the attack may have links to al Qaeda, and particularly the affiliate group al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

INTERNATIONAL DEBATE

The furor has emerged as an issue in the U.S. presidential election campaign and sparked international debate over free speech, religion and the right to offend. Many Muslims consider any representation of Allah or the Prophet Mohammad blasphemous.

In Los Angeles, an actress who appeared in the video filed a lawsuit against a Coptic Christian man linked to the film, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, accusing him of fraud and slander and asking that the film's trailer be removed from the Internet.

It was the first known civil lawsuit connected to the film that has circulated online as a 13-minute trailer, including under the title "Innocence of Muslims."

The actress, Cindy Lee Garcia, also named Google Inc and its YouTube unit as defendants. Garcia's lawsuit stated that she thought she was appearing in a desert adventure film, not a "hateful" production about the Muslim prophet.

The United States has condemned the content of the video while defending the right to free speech, and took a similar line on the French cartoons.

"We know that these images will be deeply offensive to many and have the potential to be inflammatory. But we've spoken repeatedly about the importance of upholding the freedom of expression that is enshrined in our constitution," White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters.

"In other words, we don't question the right of something like this to be published, we just question the judgment behind the decision to publish it."

In the Lebanese city of Sidon, around 10,000 people joined a march organized by the Shi'ite group Hezbollah to protest against the film and the cartoons, shouting "Enough humiliation!" and "Death to America! Death to Israel!".

In Egypt, Essam Erian, acting head of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party, told Reuters: "We reject and condemn the French cartoons that dishonor the Prophet and we condemn any action that defames the sacred according to people's beliefs."

At the same time, rights groups demanded the release of a Coptic Christian computer science graduate who they said had been beaten up and arrested in Cairo on suspicion of re-posting the anti-Islam video online.

In France, a joint statement by Catholic bishop Michel Dubost and Mohammed Moussaoui, president of the French Muslim Council, defended the right to freedom of expression under the cherished French principles of "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity".

"But freedom endangers itself if it forgets fraternity and respect for everyone's equal right to dignity," they added.

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius called the publication of the cartoons a provocation.

"We saw what happened last week in Libya and in other countries such as Afghanistan," he told a regular news conference. "We have to call on all to behave responsibly."

CALL FOR CAUTION

France's ambassador to Iran sent French citizens there a message urging them to exercise great caution, especially on Friday, and around diplomatic missions and places of worship.

But Charlie Hebdo's editor, Stephane Charbonnier, rejected the criticism. "We have the impression that it's officially allowed for Charlie Hebdo to attack the Catholic far-right but we cannot poke fun at fundamental Islamists," he said.

"It shows the climate. Everyone is driven by fear, and that is exactly what this small handful of extremists who do not represent anyone want: to make everyone afraid, to shut us all in a cave," he told Reuters.

One cartoon alluded to the scandal over a French magazine's publication of topless photos of the wife of Britain's Prince William. It showed a bare female torso topped by a beard with the caption "Riots in Arab countries after photos of Mrs Mohammad are published".

Charlie Hebdo is no stranger to controversy. Its Paris offices were firebombed last November after it published a mocking caricature of Mohammad, and Charbonnier has been under police guard ever since.

Speaking outside his offices in an eastern neighborhood with many residents of North African origin, Charbonnier said he had not received any threats over the latest cartoons. In a message on its Twitter account, Charlie Hebdo said its website had been hacked, but referred readers to a blog it also uses.

In 2005, Danish cartoons of the Prophet sparked a wave of protests across the Muslim world in which at least 50 died.

France is already on alert for attacks by al Qaeda on French interests in West Africa.

A diplomatic source said this week that Paris had recently foiled attacks on economic and diplomatic targets and had credible evidence that more were planned.

"Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb is a direct and immediate threat," the source said.

Paul W. S. Anderson.'s "Resident Evil: Retribution," Reviewed : The ...

The modern history of the cinema (actually, the history of modernity as such) is the recognition of art in apparent ephemera. Some justly venerated movies come dressed as art (such as Dreyer?s ?The Passion of Joan of Arc?), while others (such as Hitchcock?s ?Vertigo?) come dressed as disposable entertainment. The great current in modern criticism and modern filmmaking arrives in the fifties with the recognition that there were artists at work in Hollywood making films in genres that had hitherto won little respect, such as crime stories (film noir), family melodramas (?women?s pictures?), and musicals. Some critics? trash contained others? treasures, and, for those who love movies, the release of the stealth masterwork continues to this day. It?s no longer a surprise that David Cronenberg is acknowledged as an artist for such films as ?The Fly? or ?Videodrome?; it remains, for some, a little more so when Jared Hess?s ?Nacho Libre? and ?Gentlemen Broncos? are cited as artistic wonders. (Overlooked for the same reason that comedies have trouble at Oscar time?things that are serious in tone are too easily taken to be serious in substance.) But, at the very least, few critics any longer doubt that there?s sublimity to be found in movies of the most mercantile provenance and the most popular genres.

Paul Thomas Anderson?s long-awaited intimate tale of titanic struggle, ?The Master,? was released last Friday, the same day as ?Resident Evil: Retribution,? the fifth installment of the video-game-based franchise, written and directed by the English director Paul W. S. Anderson. And, while most critics have been worthily exerting themselves on the mighty mysteries of the former, several exceptional critics of my acquaintance (I?m thinking of Jaime Christley, Ignatiy Vishnevetsky, and Armond White) also offered encomia to the latter (most succinctly, in Ignatiy?s tweet that ?everybody knows RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION is the real Film of the Moment?) which sufficed to propel me to a multiplex and find out what I?ve been missing.

The under-the-credits sequence shows a cataclysmic battle on the open seas with Milla Jovovich at its center?and runs the action in reverse, which is a gleefully playful conceit. The story concerns the attempt by the monstrous Umbrella Corporation to spark an arms race with their new virus?which escaped from the lab and killed many, who returned, as flesh-eating zombies, to terrorize mankind. Meanwhile, Umbrella used elaborate urban simulations to demonstrate the virus?s power?and one woman, Alice (Jovovich), the corporation?s prisoner, must escape from the corporation and lead a fight against the zombies (joined, eventually, by some meaty cohorts) through several simulated environments in order to save themselves along with the remnants of humanity (notably, a little girl in her care).

Far be it from me to deny the pleasures found by others in a work of art, and pleasure is what other critics get from the movie. By and large, Anderson?s compositional sense is dead-center and uninflected, though a few are eye-catching (notably, one of Alice trapped on the floor of a huge, luminous cylinder). In particular, one element of Anderson?s direction offers kinetic invention?his taste for sudden action bursting into the frame, which, during the movie?s early scenes of a suburban setup (when an ordinary family finds itself thrust into a vortex of violence), occur with such a regular and ludicrous insistence that I expected the rest of the film to ramp it up into out-and-out comedy.

This doesn?t happen?though there are two moments of actual humor, one featuring Jovovich inducing Michelle Rodriguez (playing an anti-gun suburbanite) to shoot a gun by telling her, ?It?s just like a camera?point and shoot,? and, after the gun is fired, adding, ?Congratulations?you?re officially a badass.? Then there?s one moment of martial sublime, when one of Alice?s allied commandos, facing danger, says, ?I?m starting to enjoy myself?; soon thereafter, he?s gravely wounded and, as battle rages just out of his sight, he takes out a cigar and enjoys a last worldly pleasure before offering himself up as a target.

I think it?s a misinterpretation of classic auteur cinema to imagine that Hollywood directors of the studio era, feeling hamstrung by genre and script, kept themselves happy with visual cleverness. (There is the phenomenon of directors exercising a sort of critical eye on the script, staging action in such a way as to reveal peculiarities of the story, but that?s not the same thing as directing solely to create marginal ornament.) Anderson is a consistent but slenderly imaginative director, and he exercises the imagination of a cyborg, coming up with minor variations on themes of mayhem that suggest no emotional involvement in their significance.

On the other hand, I think that the movie is not at all dismissible; on the contrary, as deadening and depressing as its numbing battles and explosions are, the feeling of emptiness it leaves is exactly the point. I?m not sure whether to ascribe this mood to Anderson, to the genre, or to the video game on which it?s based, but it would be wrong to relegate the movie to insignificance on the grounds of taste or, rather, of the movie?s tastelessness. The framed screens with which, at the beginning, Alice narrates and illustrates the back story seem derived from the housewares section of a discount store; the futuristic d?cor has all the eye-catching cheapness of a multiplex concession area, and the warriors? styles offer the beefcake intensity of reality TV. In short, the movie is a representation of another America than the one that usually populates art-house theatres, one that doesn?t usually read the cinephilic blogs that discuss this very movie?and, more important, one that does actually belong to the rough-and-tumble world that the movie reflects, the one in which gun ownership is common and in which participation in the military or the police is not an unfamiliar option.

At the same time, ?Resident Evil? is a relentless reflection of the tawdriness of strip malls, of the dun grimness of heavy industry, of the sense of decisions being made by abstract higher-ups that make for a plant closing or a store being shuttered, of the daily threat of violence and the need to stay vigilant and look tough, of the sense of embattlement in a harrowingly desolate landscape, and of the escape into simulation and the vicarious as the only, and fleeting, feeling of heroism that the daily struggle?or the daily round of boredom?offers. The absurd fantasy that Anderson offers up plays like a documentary of an extreme state of mind?and turns it into a stereotype which, in being represented with such efficacy, propagates itself. The virus of deadening fantasy is the one that the real Umbrella corporation lets loose; I don?t think that Anderson is critical of it?though there?s one strange moment, near the end, in which Alice is locked in mortal combat with her nemesis (Sienna Guillory) and he cuts from a side view of them to an overhead shot. For an instant, both women, their heads thrown back in mutual chokeholds, look skyward, into the camera, as if these two capable performers were asking, ?What the hell are we doing here??

Anderson is no ironist or critic; some of his violence plays out with a pornographically whooping glee, and the commando battle sequences, with different green-screen projections, could serve as recruiting videos for the armed forces. (Ignatiy Vishnevetsky praises the 2011 feature ?The Three Musketeers 3D? as Anderson?s ?most personal? film that transforms the story into ?a barely-recognizable vehicle for his own aesthetic predilections,? and I?m planning to see it to find out what that might mean.) As for whatever fun there may be in the execution of the film, Jared Hess?s ?Gentlemen Broncos? takes on the very subject of genre imagination?and the personal commitment that goes into it?with a lucid avidity; as a result, the action sequences that he films, on a ludicrous shoestring but with a touching empathy, have a true and awesome grandeur that befits a reverent aesthete?s tribute to a warrior.

I?m entirely sympathetic to the notion that a work of genre filmmaking that features stock characters in crude situations can turn out better that a movie with a nuanced script depicting well-developed characters in historically resonant stories; but it?s wrong to look askance at ?The Master? as a tailor-made work of art-house sophistication. There?s a remarkable visual thought at work in the making of that film. The abstraction of the clash of wills that the movie runs on seems to have liberated Paul Thomas Anderson, and his amazingly controlled yet fiercely expressive actors help him to lend a new meaning to the kinetic?a sneer or a raised eyebrow, in the right place in the frame at the right moment, is more exciting and more terrifying than the heaving gyrations of P. W. S. Anderson?s climactic sword fight. ?The Master? is a far greater film not because it is more human or more humane, but because it is, down to its details, more exhilaratingly, mysteriously imagined?because it?s inhabited by its filmmaker with a furious yet probing, assertive yet questioning engagement. P. W. S. Anderson may well have had some fun; P. T. Anderson filmed things that seem not to have been fun to film but were, rather, morally necessary despite their pain. ?The Master? is not as visually gaudy but, as an inner experience (of, among other things, violence), it?s vastly more complex.

P.S. As for the choreographic charm of the multi-digitized fight scenes, the upcoming film by Leos Carax, ?Holy Motors,? which will be at the New York Film Festival and will open here October 17th, outdoes them in a single scene that also turns them inside out.

China, U.S. divided over Syria, sea row, but vow goodwill

China, U.S. divided over Syria, sea row, but vow goodwill
US-CHINA-USA-CLINTON:China, U.S. divided over Syria, sea row, but vow goodwill

By Andrew Quinn

BEIJING (Reuters) - China and the United States were divided on Wednesday over how to end the bloodshed in Syria and defuse tension in the South China Sea and other global troublespots, but stressed hope for steady ties as they navigate political transitions at home.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi vowed goodwill after talks which had been preceded by criticism from Beijing of Clinton's calls for a multilateral solution to the territorial disputes in the South and East China Seas.

Clinton told reporters that such disagreements did not have to hobble cooperation.

"I'm very proud of the strength and resilience that we have built into our relationship," she said after talks with Yang in the cavernous Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

"It makes it possible for us to talk about anything, and to find ways to tackle issues frankly and forthrightly," Clinton said, adding that the two sides would not see eye-to-eye on all the issues that are part of their vast relationship.

Yang also cast relations in a positive light, saying both sides could work together as long as "mutual respect for each other's core interests and major concerns" continues.

"History and facts have repeatedly proven that China and the United States have interwoven interests," said Yang.

The remarks underscored efforts by both sides to contain quarrels, especially as they focus on domestic politics. China's Communist Party is preoccupied with a once-in-a-decade leadership over coming months, while U.S. President Barack Obama is focused on a re-election fight culminating in November.

Clinton praised China for helping to apply pressure on Iran over its nuclear activities, and Yang sounded a moderating note on Syria by balancing opposition to outside intervention with support for a "political transition.

"China is willing to maintain and strengthen dialogue, communication and coordination with the U.S.," Chinese President Hu Jintao told Clinton, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry's website.

"Maintaining stable development of Sino-U.S. economic and trade ties has an important impact on the two countries, as well as the revival and growth of the world economy."

Neither side gave ground on the South China Sea disputes, which have emerged as a persistent irritant, reflecting suspicions in Beijing that the Obama administration is seeking to curb Chinese influence.

China's claims over much of the South China Sea, including the Spratly and Paracel islands, have put it at loggerheads with Vietnam, the Philippines and other Southeast Asian nations. A similar dispute has set China against Japan in the East China Sea.

China has been especially irked by the U.S.-backed proposals for a multilateral approach to resolving such disputes, preferring to negotiate separately with each of the far less powerful Asian claimants.

A U.S. official told travelling reporters Vice President Xi Jinping, who is overwhelmingly likely to succeed Hu as president, had to cancel his meeting with Clinton. Vice Premier Li Keqiang would meet her instead, said the official.

Xi cancelled an earlier meeting with Singapore's prime minister, a sign his absence was not a snub at Clinton.

"We hope people will not make unnecessary speculation," Yang said of Xi's absence.

"FISHING FOR ADVANTAGE"

The overseas edition of state mouthpiece the People's Daily laid out China's concerns ahead of Clinton's meetings, suggesting the United States was seeking to gain leverage from China's tensions with Japan and Southeast Asian countries.

"The United States' recent conduct concerning the Diaoyu islands and South China Sea issues cannot but create the suspicion that it is attempting to sow discord in order to fish for advantage," said a front-page commentary in the paper, which broadly reflects official thinking.

China and Japan have rival claims to the uninhabited Diaoyu islands -- called Senkaku in Japan -- and surrounding fishing areas and potentially rich gas deposits.

"Regarding the South China Sea, the position of the Chinese government has been consistent and clear cut. China has sovereignty over the islands in the South China Sea and their adjacent waters," Yang, the foreign minister, told reporters.

"Nowhere else do China and the United States share more converging interests and interact more frequently than in the Asia-Pacific region," he said.

Clinton repeated that the United States took no position on the contending claims but wanted China and Southeast Asian states to agree on a code of conduct to avoid flare-ups.

The Obama administration also wants greater Chinese cooperation on other international problems, including reining in the North Korean and Iranian nuclear programs and finding a solution to the Syria crisis.

China backs a "political transition" in Syria to end worsening bloodshed after 18 months of unrest, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang said while repeating Beijing's opposition to forceful foreign intervention in the crisis.

Clinton said it was "no secret" the U.S. government was disappointed by the positions of China and Russia on Syria, and she reiterated that the best course of action remained tough U.N. Security Council action.

Yang also said his government opposed the efforts of any country, including Iran, to develop nuclear weapons. Tehran denies having such ambitions.

"We believe the parties should continue to exercise calm and remain committed to diplomatic negotiations," said Yang.

Washington has been turning up pressure on Tehran by expanding unilateral sanctions, an approach that Beijing opposes. But Clinton suggested the Chinese government had given some concessions on its energy and trade flows with Iran.

She praised efforts with China and other permanent members of the U.N. Security Council, which she said had brought "unprecedented pressure" on Tehran.

Android Smartphone Sales, Led By Big Screens, Are Growing Everywhere Except In The U.S.

LG SpectrumWe've seen a lot of images of an (alleged) iPhone coming soon with a bigger screen, and some numbers out from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, the WPP-owned market analysts, underscore how a bigger iPhone may not be coming a moment too soon. In the last 12 weeks, it found that Android-based smartphones have continued to extend their lead over the rest of the pack, and the charge is being led by the big boys -- literally. Of all the Android devices that have been sold in the last three months, nearly one-third (29%) of them had a screen size of over 4.5 inches, with large-screened devices from Samsung, HTC, LG (pictured), Huawei and more. Apple's current iPhone has a screen of 3.5 inches.

Utah hiker survives being trapped for 4 days

A 33-year-old hiker is in stable condition at a Salt Lake City hospital after he was trapped in a drainage tunnel in the foothills east of the city for four days and three nights.

Daniel Samuelsen said he fell into the tunnel, near the mouth of Parleys Canyon, and broke his leg during a hike on Wednesday morning.

When his cell phone died, he found a rock and banged it against the tunnel walls in hopes of attracting someone's attention. But no one ever came although numerous hikers passed by above the tunnel.

"I thought I was going to die," Samuelsen told ABC affiliate KTVX in Salt Lake City.

By Saturday afternoon, after four days without any food or water since the fall, it became clear that he needed to take action. Samuelsen decided to crawl out of the corrugated tunnel. He was able to find a piece of wood and make a split of sorts for his severely fractured leg. He eventually crawled to a nearby highway, where he was discovered by a motorist.

"I was near tears when someone finally stopped. I clasped my hands together and was like 'thank you, thank you,'" Samuelsen said. "I was so happy to see somebody who cared enough about me to stop and realize I needed help."

According to doctors at St. Mark's Hospital, Samuelsen's right leg is broken in numerous places, and may need to be amputated, because the wound was open for four days.

Kate Moss Achilli, director of marketing communications for St. Mark's Hospital, said Samuelsen was admitted to the hospital with a compound fracture in his lower right leg and was severely dehydrated. He was treated with surgery and IV fluid.

"He has had surgery for his wounds and is doing okay at this point," Moss Achilli said.

Doctors are determining whether he is safe to discharge, but amputation is still an option at this point.

"I am about to be moved into physical therapy right now and thought of that frightens me, because my leg was broken for four days," Samuelsen said. "Anytime I move it into a standing position I get an intense rush of pain."
